AWS Global Alerting Platform
A highly reliable and scalable satellite communications, tracking and emergency reporting system.
As the cost of satellite communications reduces, the market for tracking and emergency reporting devices is expanding. Whether you’re sailing across the Atlantic, trekking in the mountains or headed for the North Pole, chances are you’ll want to carry a portable satellite messenger device that can raise the alarm in an emergency situation.
The Iridium satellite communications network provides global coverage and a cost effective short burst data service. Networks from Inmarsat and GlobalStar provide competitive features.
The AWS Global Alerting Platform was borne out of our experience with the RNLI MOB Guardian product. We’ve developed a comprehensive platform, terrestrial infrastructure and operational support system for managing messaging, tracking, telemetry and emergency alerting.
The system is delivered using a combination of Microsoft Windows Azure technology and our own secure data centres, ensuring high reliability, scalability and availability of the service.

Features include:
- Interoperability with popular satellite gateway systems including Iridium SBD and Inmarsat D+
- Gateway to terrestrial messaging systems including SMS, email , Twitter and RSS
- A customisable portal providing web-based mapping and tracking
- Facility to interconnect with Search and Rescue systems
- Extensibility through industry standard protocols and application programming interfaces (API)
