Richard Prodger at Westminster eForums Cloud Computing event

Monday, 22 February 2010 @ 12:05

The Westminster eForum event for Cloud Computing was held on Wednesday 10th February, 2010 at Local Government House, Smith Square, London, SW1P 3HZ.

AWS Director Richard Prodger joined a host of speakers to inform an audience about Cloud Computing.  Richard participated in the Security and Reliability talk at 10.15am.

Cloud computing is set to be the next big thing, storing data and files remotely, and accessing applications via high speed internet rather than on a local machine. The vision is that it will enable individuals to work anywhere, on any sort of hardware, while safeguarding data in case of serious emergency. This seminar will look at the future of cloud computing in the UK, and the extent that it can take over from the local PC.

The Westminster eForum provides the premier environment for policy makers in Parliament, Whitehall and government agencies to engage with key stakeholders. These include industry representatives and their advisors, interest groups, local authorities, the voluntary sector and academia, along with members of the reporting press.

Westminster eForums are delighted that Simone Brunozzi, Web Services Evangelist, EMEA, Amazon; and Reuven Cohen, Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Enomaly delivered keynote addresses at this seminar. Other speakers included: Simon Abrahams, Head of Product Marketing, EMEA, Rackspace; John Colley, Managing Director, EMEA, (1SC)2; Rik Ferguson, Senior Security Advisor, Trend Micro; Tom Greenbank, Solicitor, Pinsent Masons; Tim Hearn, Head of UK Public Sector, Juniper Networks; Steve Hughes, Cloud Marketing, COLT; Evangelos Kotsovinos, Vice President, Hosting, Morgan Stanley; Stephen McGibbon, Regional Technology Officer, Western Europe, Microsoft; Guy Mucklow, Managing Director, postcodeanywhere.com; Ian Osborne, Director, Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network, Intellect; Richard Prodger, Technical Director, Active Web Solutions; and Matt Yardley, Partner, Analysys Mason.
