AWS celebrates after winning the highly commended award for The Orange Best Use of Technology in Business.  

AWS won this prestigious award for their entry into the National Business Awards Regional programme 2009.

The team were extremely proud to be in attendance at the glittering National Business Awards gala award dinner, which was held in Birmingham at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel last night and delighted to be winners.

The award was given for the company’s work on MOB Guardian, an ingenious system that uses satellite and mapping technology to help save lives at sea. Developed in partnership with the RNLI, the system makes it possible to pinpoint a vessel in difficulties at sea, and raises an automatic alarm if anyone falls overboard, taking the ‘search’ out of ‘search and rescue’.

The RNLI believes that the system has the potential to revolutionise the safety of the fishing boats and has committed to a 10 year contract with AWS to host, manage and further develop the system.

Described by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown as ‘the UK’s business Oscars’. The National Business Awards is an independent programme, which recognises success, innovation and ethics and identifies outstanding businesses of all sizes and from all sectors across the UK.

The team at AWS are thrilled to have won the regional award and are now automatically entered as finalists in the UK National competition.  They will be required to undertake another presentation to judges in London and the winners of the National awards will be announced on Tuesday 10th November 2009 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
